Frequently Asked Questions
|
-
Do you accept credit cards? Yes, we accept Visa, Master Card and Discover. We do not accept American Express.
- What if I bounce my check? Gateway will pass onto the client, the $12 fee charged by our bank for a returned check.
- When can my child ride a horse? Your child must have the desire to ride, the muscle strength to hold the proper position in the saddle, the balance to remain on the horse, the ability to understand and follow directions, and sufficient attention span.
- Can my child and I ride together on the same horse? NEVER...due to obvious safety issues.
- Can I go out on a trail ride without a guide? Absolutely not. Our trail guides know the trails and where property lines are. In addition, each of our trail guides are trained in CPR and are long-time equestrians.
- I have a special needs participant...what are your restrictions for such cases? Please call us at 610-444-1255 to discuss your specific circumstances. If we can not meet your needs, we do have two other site recommendations for you.
- What should I bring with me? Aside from your method of payment, you should wear clothing appropriate for the weather. It is often windier out in the fields and trails than you would expect. A hard soled shoe with a small 1/2" heel is ideal. Sneakers are not optimal, as they can slide in the stirrups. Because we are out on trails, it is expected to come across the occasional thorn or poison ivy vine. All keys / wallets / cameras must be left in the office when you ride...Gateway Stables is not responsible for lost effects, including good jewelry.
- Can we take pictures when riding? You are not permitted to take pictures while riding, but Gateway staff will be more than happy to take photographs of you and your family after the ride while you are still mounted.
- Is there a weight limit for riding a horse? Yes, but it depends on a person's height too. Please let us know if you're over 6' tall or 200 pounds so we can select the proper sized horse for you.
- Do I need to wear a helmet? Yes, no rider is permitted to ride without a secured ASTM standard SEI certified helmet. If you do not have one, we will provide one for you. If you supply your own, it must have a functional chin strap.
- What is your cancellation policy for lessons? We require 24 hours notice of cancellation or rescheduling, otherwise a cancellation fee of $20 will be charged.
- What is your cancellation policy for trail rides? We request cancellation or rescheduling at least 24 hours in advance as we need to coordinate with our trail guide staff and horse usage.
